    Travelling Ratargul Swamp Forest

Village boys paddle into the Ratargul Swamp Forest located along the Goain river, about 26 kilometres from Sylhet in bangladesh. It is one of the few freshwater swamp forests in the world. Some call it the “Amazon of Bangladesh”. During the rainy season, the wetland is submerged in up to 10 metres of water. In winter, it almost dries up completely. IT was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1973.

Congratulations to Md Rafayat Haque Khan!

His image of the Ratargul Swamp Forest has been selected as our Photo of the Month! The winning Photo of the Month is published on our Postcard page in ASIAN Geographic magazine and is also featured on our social media pages. The Photo of the Month winner will receive an annual subscription to the magazine.
