All-women team from Singapore to trek Mount Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp to help young women

It’s International Women’s Day on 8 March and Ace Adventure Expeditions will be sending two all-women’s team from Singapore to scale two of the world’s highest mountains, in an effort to help teenage girls in Singapore under the Project Pari.

The Mount Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit trip will be held from 26 February to 10 March 2016, led by Vinnie Tan who embarked on the same trip in 2014 and was also an active volunteer with Raleigh Singapore. Standing at 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and is a dormant volcanic mountain with three volcanic cones.

The Everest Base Camp expedition will run from 13–30 March 2016 and will be led by Joanne Soo, the founder of Ace Adventure and who was also part of Singapore’s first all-women’s team to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 2009. The Everest base Camp stands at 5548m and is the most popular trekking activity in the Himalayas.

All this is done for a good cause, as the ladies aim to raise funds for Project Pari, an organisation that helps teenage girls from lower-income families with educational and financial needs. Set up by the Zonta Club in Singapore, which is also part of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organizations (SCWO), Project Pari has helped over 150 teenage girls since its inception in 2008.
